Assel Tleuova – Furry Paws

An original fashion comics inspired by songs by the Icelandic indiefolk band Of Monsters and Men and local fairy-tales. It consists of eight stories-clothes featuring a small boy, a strange creature Furry Paws, different trolls, little monsters and ghosts. Original intense colours and decorative drawings are in sharp contrast with the plain style of coats, dresses, tops and skirts. That´s why the minimalistic design of the fashion collection doesn´t distract from reading the comics story which is printed directly onto the fabric.

The exhibition opening will take place on Sunday 25th October at 7pm.

Activity Book for Massaging Imagination

Art workshop with the Portuguese artist Catarina Gomes. In her new book, Activity Book for Massaging Immagination published by edition lidu, she proves that drawing is not only for children.

Marika Dalloco—Life in a Sketch

In her latest project Life in a Sketch the Italian photographer Marika Dalloco tells a story about 11 Italian comics artists. Black and white photos give us some insight into what is usually hidden—intimate studios and other favourite places of comics creators. Apart from purely photographic portraits, the author of the project asked each artist to finish the photos by hand.

The exhibition opening will take place on Thursday 19th November at 6pm.

Seth’s Dominion

A nostalgic and inspirational view on the work and life of the Canadian comics artist Gregory Gallant (aka Seth), who is best-known for his series Palookaville (for example It’s a Good Life, If You Don’t Weaken). The title of the film refers to both the inner life of the author and Seth´s art project of a fictional town Dominion which he´s been working on for more than 10 years. The picture combines a film with animation and was awarded at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

Fear Has a Thousand Eyes

How about getting together and creating some paper masks inspired by the comics series Zelený vlk (Green Wolf)? We all know that fear has a thousand eyes, but who remembers this wisdom when they are scared? Small and big visitors of the workshop will get to know the characters of the story and will look closely at their own fear while creating a mask. They can create a mask which will help them face their ghosts, worries, horrors, nightmares and demons.

The Mystery of the House of Jan Hus

Let´s make a comics story about Jan Hus! We can find out where he was from, what he looked like, how he played up at school, how well he did during his sermons or what he was worried about during his stay at Kozí hrádek. The characters and the settings will be inspired by the comics book Husův dům (The House of Jan Hus) published in 2015 by the publishing house Albatros.

The Castle Brada is Haunted!

Baron Barnabáš together with his family and an unclear number of ghosts inhabit the castle Brada. Along with Bertík and his sister Bibi, we will learn to recognise the ghosts and visit them in the dungeon, the attic and the castle´s battlements. The ideas and comics tasks are based on the comics book Na hradě Bradě (At the Castle Brada) published in 2015 by the publishing house Albatros.
